The following platforms (OS plus compiler version) are supported for xrootd:

• Redhat Linux 7.2, gcc 2.95.3
• Redhat Enterprise Linux 3, gcc 3.2.3
• Solaris 8, Workshop 6 Update 1
• Solaris 9, Forte 7
• MacOSX 10.3, gcc 3.3

Minor variations on these (e.g. RH7.3, gcc 2.95.2, etc.) should also work, although we are not testing them regularly. If you have problems with them please send a message to the mailing list so we can help fix the problem.

As part of making xrootd available also via ROOT, work is going on to make xrootd build on a larger set of unix platforms. When that is completed the list above will be updated.

If you are interested in xrootd on some other non-supported platform, feel free to contact the mailing list to see if it is possible.
